Meet the Team
We are three Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered psychologists, providing comprehensive psychological assessment and intervention for young people, adults and older people with a range of emotional and psychological difficulties.
Dr Karen Barton is a chartered clinical psychologist and Principal Clinician with Barton Psychology. With more than 20 years experience in health services, including the NHS, she has worked with individuals, families and couples but also extensively with staff teams offering supervision and training. She has submitted more than 150 medico-legal reports to the courts. Karen has trained to the highest level to deliver a variety of psychological therapies. She is an accredited practitioner with the British Associated of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP), recognising her proficiency in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). She is also a trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapist and a CFT (Compassion Focused Therapist). She is registered with various health insurers including BUPA, AVIVA, WPA and AXA.

Dr Adele Phillips
Chartered Clinical Psychologist
Dr Adele Phillips is a chartered clinical psychological and associate clinician with Barton Psychology. Adele has experience of working with individuals, couples, children and families in a variety of NHS settings. She has particular interests in working with individuals who are experiencing psychological difficulties associated with significant life events and loss, as well as mental health concerns arising in the perinatal period (both ante- and post-natal). Adele primarily uses CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) within her therapeutic work.
Dr Jamie Yapp
Registered and Chartered Psychologist
As well as undertaking various roles within secure and community settings, Jamie also works privately as a therapist within the community, helping people to understand, resolve and overcome difficulties linked to relationships, internal turmoil, identity, attachment difficulties, mental illness, and substance misuse. Jamie uses a variety of techniques within his therapeutic approach, (ACT, CBT, Psychoanalytic), and he is also a Certified Schema Therapist.
